At the beginning of the Lower Keys, Big pine Key is the main island for your grocery and shopping needs, you’ll notice that the maximum road speed drops down to 45 mph during the day and 35 mph at night and EVERYBODY obeys this rule, this is due to the National Key Deer Habitat, The Key deer are a wild species, and if you are careful, you can spot these animals on the Big Pine Key area and No Name Key, a Solar Energy Community without electricity just minutes away from Big Pine Key. P.S. feeding the key Deer is totally prohibited.

One of the most spectacular beaches in the keys is located at the beginning of The Lower Keys at Bahia Honda State park and Campground, located at mm 37, This beach was named ” Best beach in America” in 1992.
The Lower Keys are home of the breathtaking Looe Key Coral Reef in the Florida National Marine Sanctuary and every year one of the most outrageous festivals on earth have place in this Coral Reef, The Underwater Music Festival.
